January 25-27, 1982: Attended American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. Annual meeting held at Hilton Head Island (this meeting included a one-day meeting on the physics of laser and biological effects of lasers in addition to the spectrum of medical applications of laser treatment).
April 1-3, 1982: Attending meeting at Cleveland Clinic entitled “Upper Gastrointestinal Endoscopy – Emergency and Therapeutic Aspects.” At this meeting, the use of laser was discussed; and specifics regarding laser energy and endoscopic methods were discussed.
March 17-18, 1983: Attending meeting at Cleveland Clinic entitled “Endoscopic Sclerotherapy of Esophageal Varices.” At this meeting, the role of YAG laser in varices and other gastrointestinal disorders were discussed.
May 21-27, 1983: American Gastroenterology Association, Digestive Disease Week with Associated American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy post-graduate course at Digestive Disease Week. At this course, the endoscopic equipment was assessed from a variety of companies. The specific endoscopic power strengths and times were defined.
