The Gastroenterology Center at Meadows Regional Medical Center provides a wide range of Gastroenterology care to patients in this section of Georgia. Our physicians see patients on Mondays and Fridays. Nursing procedures such as 24 HR. pH probe, esophageal motility, and hydrogen breath tests are done Tues.-Thurs. by a GI certified registered nurse using the most advanced equipment available.
We have three exam rooms and a staff of one nurse, one certified nursing assistant, and a receptionist at the clinic. The endoscopy room is located in the hospital and is staffed by two RN's. We are building a new endoscopy suite at this time. It will open this fall and will have two endoscopy rooms. We do flexible sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, Upper Intestinal Endoscopy, and ERCP's. Our endoscopies are done with conscious sedation, a combination of Versed and Fentanyl. We will have the most advanced equipment in our new facility.
The nurse manager is A. Marie Smith, RN, CGRN. She has eight years of experience in GI nursing and is nationally certfied. She is active in the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates and will serve the Georgia Region as president in 2001. Her specialty is performing diagnostic testing.
Sheila, RN and Peggy, RN have 26 years combined experience in GI nursing. Both plan to pursue certification in 2001.
We accept Medicare and Medicaid and most other insurances. For your convenience, all lab test or x-rays are done at MRMC with the results sent to the physician. For additional information see appointments and locations.
